Mike Hickey ’83
Director of the Stack Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
After a highly successful business career with companies like AlliedSignal, MapInfo and Pitney Bowes Software, Hickey wanted to focus on his passion: giving back to his alma mater. As Executive-in-Residence and Director of the Stack Center, he is doing just that.
“I think the timing of the Stack Center is perfect. If you look at what this country needs, it’s more jobs. All new growth comes from business start-ups,” Hickey said.
Hickey creates the vision and strategy for the Stack Center and oversees all of its programs, including the Spark Tank Idea Contest, JumpStart Innovation Workshop and the Entrepreneur Speaker Series. The Stack Center provides a safe place for students to test ideas, take risks and learn from failure, which is an important part of entrepreneurship, Hickey said.
“The students get to put their hands on the process of making a business, product, service or idea come to life,” he said.
