Chad Bingo started his own business as a junior in high school when he created the “Gotta Go Button,” which is a training aid for dogs. When a dog needs to go, it steps on the portable button and alerts the owner. After three years of developing the product and working with a marketing firm, Bingo was about to give up.
“I really didn’t want to do it anymore,” he said.
Then he found the Stack Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
After speaking with faculty in the Stack Center, Bingo felt a resurgence of energy on the project. He used design software to develop the packaging and struck a deal with a manufacturer in China. Bingo hopes to start manufacturing his product this summer.
“The Stack Center turned me around,” he said. “It gave me new motivation.”
After college, Bingo wants to work in advertising or marketing for a few years and then start his own business. He credits the advice from faculty in the Stack Center for pushing him forward and helping him learn in a more experiential way.
“The classes that I’ve taken here are awesome, but when you’re talking to someone in China, trying to get exactly what you want and you’re talking to an advertising company … you can’t really learn that in the classroom.”
