Sending pre-med students on a Summer of Service.
For more than 25 years, students in the Siena-Albany Medical College program have completed a Summer of Service following their junior year. This unique program has allowed Siena students to immerse themselves in disadvantaged regions around the world while developing their medical skills and experiencing other cultures.
The Global Medical Volunteers Program will provide this life-changing experience to even more Siena students.
By establishing medical service trips for Siena’s traditional pre-med and pre-dental students, those who are not admitted directly to the Siena-AMC Program will still have an incentive to attend Siena College. More importantly, Global Medical Volunteers will allow these students to have an enriched undergraduate experience.
- Provide traditional pre-med and pre-dental students a life-changing experience
- Offer differentiator for more Siena students when applying to medical schools and residency programs
- Assist Siena’s Admissions Office in attracting many more highly qualified students
Voices of Our Campaign
Megan Lesperance ’14 is exactly the type of student who will benefit from the Global Medical Volunteers Program. As a biology major and traditional pre-med student, she wanted a long-term service experience in a foreign country.

Ed LaRow wants to give every pre-med student a Summer of Service experience, so he created the Global Medical Volunteers Program. He says this is necessary because it has proved so valuable to the Siena-AMC students.
